Summary

When migrating a Laserfiche 6.1x database with the Laserfiche 8.1.1 Migration Wizard, the migration may fail with the following message in the migration log:

Unable to read locations data from source database: Ambiguous column name 'PageId'

Resolution

There is a hotfix for Laserfiche 8.1.1. The fix includes updated versions of the following files:

  • Lf8MigrationUtil.exe (version 8.1.1.602)
  • SQLSrc.xml
  • SQLTar.xml

To update the Laserfiche 8 Migration Wizard

  1. Click one of the following links to download either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of the hotfix.
  2. Hotfix_SCR52932_x86.zip

    Hotfix_SCR52932_x64.zip

  3. Replace your existing version of Lf8MigrationUtil.exe with the updated version included in the zip file. By default, the file is installed at "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Migration 8."
  4. Replace your existing versions of SQLSrc.xml and SQLTar.xml with the updated versions included in the zip files. By default, the files are installed at "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Migration8 \xml."

More Information

Migrating locations data is the last step in the migration process. This means that even though the migration wizard was unable to migrate the locations data, the resulting database is still a valid Laserfiche 8.1.1 database that you can attach to a Laserfiche 8.1.1 server.

If you do not wish to remigrate your Laserfiche 6.1x database, you can create a Laserfiche 8 repository using the database that does not contain locations data. You can then choose to re-OCR documents as needed to generate locations data.

Having no locations data results in the following issues:

  • When performing a text search, Laserfiche will not highlight search hits on images.
  • Laserfiche will not be able to automatically link highlights or redactions between the text and image.
