A "The date entered is invalid" Error Occurs When Saving Changes To A Document And a Non-Required Date Field Is Blank.

Summary

When you attempt to save changes to a document, you may receive the following error message:

    The date entered is invalid.
    The proper date format is 'yyyy/MM/dd', and
    the field must contain a valid date.

When the date format in the regional settings for the computer is set to yyyy/MM/dd, you may receive this error when no value is set for a date field even though the field is not a required field.

Resolution 1

This issue is resolved in Laserfiche 8.1.1 and later. Please upgrade to the latest version of Laserfiche.

Resolution 2

There is a hotfix available for Laserfiche Client 8.1. The fix includes the following files:

  • LF.exe (version 8.1.0.502)
  • LFAuxEl81.dll (version 8.1.0.502)
  • LF.exe.manifest
  • LFMetadata81.ocx (version 8.1.0.502)

To update Laserfiche Client 8.1

  1. Close any open instances of Laserfiche Client 8.1.
  2. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the hotfix files.
  3. Hotfix_SCR49547.zip

  4. Replace your existing versions of LF.exe and LFAuxEl81.dll located in your Laserfiche Client installation folder with the updated versions included in the zip file. By default, the Laserfiche Client is installed at "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client 8."
  5. Place LF.exe.manifest in the Laserfiche Client installation folder.
  6. Replace your existing version of LFMetadata81.ocx with the updated version. The file is located in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\Controls."
