Summary

Before installing the Barcode add-on, you must first install and successfully activate Quick Fields 8.

The Quick Fields 8 activation process will generate a license file. If you are licensed for Quick Fields Barcode, this license file will contain the appropriate information.

During the Barcode installation process, the Locate Laserfiche License step will default to the location of your Quick Fields 8 license file. Proceed with the installation.

By default, the Quick Fields 8 license file is located at:

• Windows XP/Windows Server 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Laserfiche\Quick Fields\Licenses
• Windows Vista and higher: C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\Quick Fields\Licenses

AllUsersProfile Environmental Variable

Quick Fields uses Windows's AllUsersProfile environmental variable to determine where to store the license file. If the variable is set to its default value, the license will be stored in the location listed above. If the variable is not set to the default value, the All Users or ProgramData portion of the above location will change, depending on your operating system. You can view the value of the variable by typing "SET" into a Windows Command Line prompt and pressing ENTER. In most cases, the ALLUSERSPROFILE will be the first variable listed and the current value will follow the equals sign.

Note: In some instance, reinstalling Windows may cause the XP/2003 location to be C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS. This will be reflected by running the "SET" command.

If you purchase the Laserfiche Barcode add-on later on, you must first deactivate Quick Fields and reactivate to get an updated license with the needed Barcode information prior to running the Barcode installation.
