Quick Fields Removes Newline Characters When Resolving a Token Value.

June 24, 2009 | KB: 1012268
Quick Fields 8.0

Summary

Quick Fields removes newline characters when resolving token values. This feature allows a token value with multiple lines to be inserted into a field as a single line. However, certain pattern matching processes will fail as the process will be unable to determine where a line ends.

Resolution 1

This issue is resolved in Quick Fields 8.0.1. and later. Please upgrade to the latest version of Laserfiche Quick Fields.

Resolution 2

There is a hotfix available for Quick Fields 8.0. The fix is an updated version of Laserfiche.BatchProcessor.dll (assembly version 8.1.0.0, file version 8.0.0.500).

Pattern matching processes now function correctly. Quick Fields still retains the ability to convert a token value with multiple lines into a single line when inserting the value into a field. However, due to the nature of the fix, Quick Fields will no longer be able to automatically insert blank spaces in the converted single-line token value.

To update Quick Fields 8.0

  1. Close any open instances of Quick Fields 8.
  2. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the hotfix:
  3. Hotfix_SCR49163.zip

  4. Extract the contents of the zip file to a temporary location.
  5. Drag and drop the updated version of Laserfiche.BatchProcessor.dll into the Windows Global Assembly Cache at "C:\Windows\assembly."

Note: User Account Control (UAC) prevents you from manually replacing files in the Global Assembly Cache. If UAC is enabled on your Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 computer, you must first disable UAC to replace the dll. After replacing the file, re-enable UAC.
