Laserfiche Server 8.1 allows you to configure an alias for a repository's name. This allows legacy (Laserfiche 6 or 7) client programs to connect to a Laserfiche 8 repository using a different repository name. For example, you may wish to add an alias that contains spaces.
Modify the registry to add an alias for legacy connections.
To configure a legacy alias
- On the computer hosting Laserfiche Server 8.1, click Start and then click Run.
- Type the following and click OK to open the Windows Registry Editor:
regedit
- Browse to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche\Engine\8.0\Repositories\YourRepositoryName
- From the Edit menu, point to New and click Multi-String Value.
- Name the new value:
LegacyAliases
- Double-click LegacyAliases and specify the desired aliases for the repository.
- Open the Laserfiche 6 or Laserfiche 7 Client.
- Click Attach.
- In the Attach Repository dialog box, in the Repository name section, specify one of the aliases in the LegacyAliases registry value.
