The OCR Process May Time Out on Low Quality Images When Image Enhancement Is Not Enabled.

Laserfiche 8, Laserfiche 9

Summary

When the image enhancement option is not enabled, the OCR process may not automatically handle certain types of low quality images. The progress indicator remains at 0% and OCR process may appear to hang. However, after several minutes, the process will skip the problem image and continue with the rest of the document. For these types of images, the OCR process is unable to generate OCR text for the image, but will repeatedly try until finally timing out and moving on to the next page.

Workaround

In the Options dialog box, under the OCR section, enable the "Perform Image Enhancement" option. Make sure to also enable the desired type of image clean-up option.
