Summary

The Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.708 installation attempts to automatically install dongle drivers. However, dongle support is not properly enabled.

Resolution

Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.749 no longer automatically installs the dongle drivers. Like previous versions of Laserfiche, the dongle drivers are now a separate installation package.

If you currently have Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.708 installed, please perform the following steps:

1. Uninstall Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.708.
2. Install Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.749.
3. Download and run the separate dongle driver installation package.
   • If you installed the 32-bit version of Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.749, download and install the following version of the dongle drivers:

     Sentinel Drivers (Dongle) (Win32) (7.7 MB)

   • If you installed the 64-bit version of Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.749, download and install the following version of the dongle drivers:

     Sentinel Drivers (Dongle) (x64) (18 MB)

Workaround

The following workaround is only necessary if you do not wish to upgrade to Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.749. Enabling dongle support in Laserfiche Server 8.0.1. 708 involves the following steps:

1. Install Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.708
2. Manually uninstall the installed dongle drivers.
3. Download and run the full installation package for the dongle drivers.

To enable dongle support for Laserfiche 8.0.1.

1. Install Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.708.

   Important: Do not have dongles plugged in to the computer during the installation.

2. After the installation completes, load a Windows command prompt and browse to "C:\Windows\system32."
3. Type one of the following commands and press ENTER to uninstall the incomplete dongle driver installation:

   If you installed the 32-bit version of Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.708:

   msiexec /i {91A299CF-3538-486C-87EE-1F0DD79ECB3F} REMOVE=SSDDongle

   If you installed the 64-bit version of Laserfiche Server 8.0.1.708:

   msiexec /i {3EAA2C8C-98CA-481F-91ED-FC109BDA2F34} REMOVE=SSDDongle

4. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the full dongle driver installation package.

   Sentinel Protection Installer 7.4.zip (18 MB)

5. Unzip the contents of the zip file to a temporary location.
6. Browse to where you unzipped the zip file and run setup.exe.
