Summary

The LF Diagnostics utility generates a report that includes commonly requested information useful for troubleshooting purposes.

Important: The Laserfiche Diagnostic 2007 Utility requires .NET Framework 2.0. If .NET Framework 2.0 is not already installed on your computer, please see the following Microsoft Download Center article:

To use the LF Diagnostics utility

  1. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the diagnostics program.
    LfDiagnostics2007 7.2.1.2.zip.
  2. Extract the contents of the zip file to a temporary location.
  3. Double-click LFDiagnostics.exe to load a program.
  4. On the User Info tab, specify the appropriate information.
  5. On the Output tab, specify where you want LFDiagnostics to save the report.
  6. On the Advanced Options tab, you can configure what types of information to output. By default, all options are selected.
  7. Click Start to generate the diagnostic report.

More Information

Generating a full report using all the available options can take several minutes. When generating a full report, the utility can retrieve the following information:

  1. General computer information (Windows environment variables, locale information, printer settings, and installed applications).
  2. A listing of files stored in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche" and the installation paths for any installed Laserfiche programs. The utility also contains options to retrieve a file listing of "C:\WINDOWS\system32" and "C:\WINDOWS\Pixtran."
  3. Laserfiche-specific registry values stored under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche" and "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Laserfiche." The utility also retrieves the computer's regional settings stored under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International."
  4. Laserfiche license files.
  5. Laserfiche error logs.
  6. Event Viewer logs.
  7. Laserfiche crash dumps from "C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Temp."
  8. A list of Windows services running on the computer. The utility can also retrieve a list of device services.
  9. IIS settings and log files.

During the report generation process, the utility indicates what step it is on plus the current progress of the step.
