The .reg Files included with the Legacy OCR Adapter Installation Package are not Compatible with 64-bit Editions of Windows.

August 7, 2014 | KB: 1011823
Laserfiche 7.2.1, Import Agent 7.0.2, Integrator's Toolkit 7.2.1, Scanning 7.2.1

Summary

The Legacy OCR Adapter includes two .reg files that simplify the process of switching between OCR engines. However, the .reg files do not work properly on 64-bit editions of Windows.

Cause

On 64-bit editions of Windows, registry keys for 32-bit applications are stored under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node" branch instead of directly under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE" branch.

Resolution

There are x64 versions of "Use IRIS OCR Engine.reg" and "Use OmniPage OCR Engine.reg."
