Summary

DCOM is periodically disabled. You are able to manually re-enable DCOM on the affected computer. However, DCOM is again inexplicably disabled after a certain amount of time. Laserfiche will not function correctly if DCOM is not enabled on both the computer hosting the Laserfiche Server and the client computer.

Cause

The affected computer may be infected with malware (viruses, worms, etc.). Certain types of malware can enable and disable DCOM or allow a user to remotely enable and disable DCOM.

Resolution

If you are encountering unexplained occurrences of DCOM being disabled, please update your antivirus software and run a complete scan of the affected computer(s).
