Summary

Text searches may fail when the lflink.idx file is larger than 2 GB. The lflink.idx file is located in the SEARCH subfolder of your repository folder.

Resolution

There is a hotfix available for Laserfiche Server 7.2.1. The fix is an updated version of LFEng.dll (version 7.2.1.435).

Important: LFEng.dll (version 7.2.1.435) includes changes made in two previous LFEng.dll hotfixes (7.2.1.410 and 7.2.1.425) that affect the external components of a Laserfiche repository. If you wish to directly update the release version of LFEng.dll (7.2.1.407) to LFEng.dll (7.2.1.435), you must also perform the necessary updates to your SQL database table structure and delete your repository's SEARCH folder and re-index your repository. Please see Knowledge Base articles 1011713 and 1011769.

To update Laserfiche Server 7.2.1

1. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the updated version of LFEng.dll.
   Hotfix_SCR29831.zip
2. Stop the Laserfiche Server service.
   1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
   2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
   3. Double-click Services.
   4. Select Laserfiche Server 7.2.
   5. From the Action menu, point to All Tasks and select Stop.
3. Replace your existing version of LFEng.dll located in your Laserfiche Server installation with the updated version contained in the zip file. By default, Laserfiche Server is installed at "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Server."
4. Delete the "SEARCH" subfolder located in your repository folder.
5. Restart the Laserfiche Server service.
   1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
   2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
   3. Double-click Services.
   4. Select Laserfiche Server 7.2.
   5. From the Action menu, point to All Tasks and select Start.
6. Optional: If you are already encountering this issue, then you must reindex your repository. If your repository's lflink.idx file has not yet hit the 2 GB limit, you do not need to reindex.

   Note: If you have previously applied the hotfix included in Knowledge Base article 1011769, then you do not need to reindex your repository.

To update a standalone edition of Laserfiche 7.2.1

1. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the updated version of LFEng.dll.
   Hotfix_SCR29831.zip
2. Replace the LFEng.dll found in the installation folder. By default, Standalone editions of Laserfiche are installed at "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client."
3. Delete the "SEARCH" subfolder located in your repository folder.
4. Optional: If you are already encountering this issue, then you must reindex your repository. If your repository's lflink.idx file has not yet hit the 2 GB limit, you do not need to reindex.
