Laserfiche Silently Fails when you Drag-and-Drop E-mail Messages into Laserfiche if the E-mail has a Subject Containing Special Characters.

February 5, 2007 | KB: 1011744
Laserfiche 7.2.1

Summary

You cannot directly drag-and-drop e-mail messages with subjects that contain special characters (e.g. tabs or carriage returns) into the Laserfiche client. You will not receive an error message. However, the process will not be successful.

Workaround

You can first forward the e-mail message or save the e-mail message to the hard disk before attempting to drag-and-drop the e-mail message into the Laserfiche client. Microsoft Outlook automatically strips out the tab or carriage return character when you forward or save the e-mail message. Another workaround is to use the Send to Laserfiche menu option instead of the drag-and-drop feature.

Resolution

There is a hotfix available for Laserfiche client 7.2.1. The fix includes updated versions of the following files:

  • LF.exe (version 7.2.1.415)
  • LFAuxEl70.dll (version 7.2.1.415)
