A "Catastrophic failure" Error Occurs When Sending Documents.

Quick Fields 7.1.2

Summary

If you open your session by double-clicking the .qfs file, when you attempt to send documents to your Laserfiche repository, you may receive the following error message in the Output Pane:

    Error: Failed to send document DocumentName. Error: Catastrophic failure

In addition, if you try to load the folder browser to set a destination, Quick Fields may close and you may receive the following error message:

    Unknown error.

Resolution

There is a hotfix available for Quick Fields 7.1.2. The fix is an updated version of lfapicom70.dll (version 7.0.1.19).

To update Quick Fields 7.1.2

  1. Close any open instances of Quick Fields.
  2. Click the following link to download a zip file containing an updated version of lfapicom70.dll.
    Hotfix_SCR28525.zip
  3. Replace the existing version of lfapicom70.dll located at "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\LFAPI" with the updated version included in the zip file.
  4. Register lfapicom70.dll.
    1. Click Start and then click Run.
    2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and click OK to register the file.

      regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\LFAPI\lfapicom70.dll"

Workaround

Instead of opening the session by double-clicking the .qfs file, first launch Quick Fields and open the session from within Quick Fields.
