Copying and Pasting a Document Silently Fails When Your Default Import Volume is Set to a Logical Volume.

November 1, 2006 | KB: 1011250
Web Access 7

Summary

If your default import volume is set to a logical volume, you may be unable to copy and paste documents. In addition, when you check in an electronic document, you may not be offered the option of saving the document as a new document or as a new version. You will only be able to overwrite the existing document.

Cause

When copying and pasting documents or checking in electronic documents, Web Access incorrectly checks security assigned to the physical volume instead of the logical volume. By default, when Laserfiche Server creates new physical volumes, it does not grant the Create Documents volume access right.

Resolution 1

This issue is resolved in Laserfiche Web Access 7.2.1. Please upgrade to the latest version of Web Access.

Resolution 2

There is a hotfix available for Web Access 7.2. The fix includes the following two files:

  • WAO72.dll (version 7.2.0.340)
  • CheckInDialog.asp (last modified on August 1, 2006)

To update Web Access 7.2

  1. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the hotfix.
    Hotfix_SCR27226.zip
  2. Replace the existing WAO72.dll with the updated version from the zip file. By default, WAO72.dll is located at "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access."
