A Folder's Name May Be Truncated When The Folder is Dragged And Dropped Into The Laserfiche Client

November 1, 2006 | KB: 1011248
Laserfiche 7.2

Summary

When a folder whose name contains a period character (.) is dragged and dropped into the Laserfiche Client from Windows Explorer, the folder's name may be truncated such that the period and all characters after the period are removed.

Cause

The Laserfiche Client is erroneously interpreting the period and the characters that follow it as a file extension. Since the Laserfiche Client removes extension information from file names, the information is therefore removed.

Resolution 1

This issue is resolved in Laserfiche client 7.2.1. Please upgrade to the latest version of the Laserfiche client.

Resolution 2

There is a hotfix available for Laserfiche Client 7.2. The fix is an updated version of LFAuxEl70.dll (version 7.2.0.310).

  1. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the hotfix.
    Hotfix_SCR24947.zip
  2. Replace the existing version of LFAuxEl70.dll in the Client installation folder with the version included in the zip file. The default location for LFAuxEl70.dll is C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client.
  3. You will need to close and re-open the Laserfiche Client before the fix will take effect.
