This article covers the following:
See the following list of new features and fixes for version 7.2.
New Features for Version 7.2
- You can now check out and check in electronic documents. Checking out an electronic document prevents any other user from modifying that electronic document. Additionally, you can search for documents based on check out information.
- You can now customize Web Access to either open electronic documents using the standard document view window or to download the electronic document and open it using its native application.
- There are now different colors available for highlights and sticky notes. You can also specify a default color for highlights and sticky notes. (22697)
- A document's metadata (i.e. field data, tags, links, and versions) can now be viewed from a single location. If you would like to view a document's metadata from the folder browser window, then a tabbed dialog box will appear.
- Web Access 7.2 now uses Laserfiche Scanning 7.2 as its scanning interface.
- There are now new toolbar buttons in both the folder browser window and the document view window.
- Web Access now supports the use of third-party IFilters to extract text from different electronic file formats. Please see the following web pages for a list of freely available IFilters:
- Web Access now supports the new records management operations added for Laserfiche 7.2.
- Web Access now includes the new search options added for Laserfiche 7.2. For example:
- Search by whether a document is checked out
- Search by version information
- Search by document creator
- Search by tag comment
- Search by current disposition eligibility
- You can now choose to display a different set of columns for different folders in the folder browser window. The Browser Columns dialog box now has an option that allows you to choose whether the Web Access should display the same set of columns for all folders or remember a different set of columns for each folder.
- Web Access now allows users to open shortcuts to folders that they would otherwise not be able to browse to. Such shortcuts will open a new browser window.
- The document window now includes a non-ActiveX version of the thumbnail control. This allows you to select pages, move them within and among documents, and into folders without using the ActiveX version of the thumbnail control. However, the non-ActiveX thumbnail control does not support the ability to drag images directly from Windows explorer into the thumbnail control.
- The document view window now includes a zoom drop-down with 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, Fit to Width, and Fit to Height options.
- You can now perform records management operations on records displayed in the search results.
- By default, the document view window now opens up using the full screen.
- The Web Access Administrator's utility now contains an additional Options tab that allows you to configure the following options:
- Control whether users can download the ActiveX version of the thumbnail control.
- Control whether users can download the scanning installation package.
- Control whether users can choose between basic or standard scanning modes.
Fixes for Version 7.2

- Web Access did not support the ability to print the records management file plan for a record series or record folder. This option is now available. (22621)
- The Full Path field on the Properties dialog box displays the path of the shortcut instead of the path of the destination document. It now displays the path of the destination document. (22350)
- Refreshing your web browser returns you back to the root folder of the repository. There is now a refresh toolbar button in the Web Access folder browser window toolbar. Use that refresh button to refresh the contents of the current folder. (16718)
- You may be unable to use the mouse wheel to scroll vertically when there are a large number of entries. This issue is now resolved. (16450, 16558)
