Summary

When registering a Laserfiche repository that uses a local MSDE instance, the Repository Registration wizard will attempt to automatically attach the corresponding MSDE databases to the MSDE instance. However, on Laserfiche 7.2, the Repository Registration wizard's automatic MSDE database attach function may take up to five minutes.

Cause

When the Laserfiche Server and Microsoft SQL Server are installed on the same computer, previous versions of the Laserfiche Server could attempt to connect to a database before Microsoft SQL Server had finished loading. As a response to this issue, Laserfiche Server 7.2 contains a feature that waits for the local SQL Server instance to finish loading before connecting to a database. However, this feature interferes with the Repository Registration wizard's automatic MSDE database attach feature. The Laserfiche Server is waiting for the MSDE instance to load up the database before the database has been automatically attached to the MSDE instance.
