Summary

Laserfiche Server - Team 7.2 introduces support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Laserfiche Server 7.2 is compatible with both Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) with Service Pack 3 and higher and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. MSDE with Service Pack 4 is included on the Laserfiche 7.2 installation CD.

Two of the key changes in SQL Server 2005 Express as compared to MSDE are an increased maximum database size and the lack of a workload governor. A MSDE database has a maximum size limit of 2 GB. A SQL Server 2005 Express database has a maximum size limit of 4 GB. The MSDE concurrency workload governor limits the performance of MSDE by adding wait times to database operations when there are more than eight concurrent connections.

You can choose to manually upgrade your MSDE databases by detaching them from MSDE and attaching them to SQL Server 2005 Express. Please see the following Knowledge Base article for detailed information on how to detach your existing databases from MSDE:

After you have detached your database from MSDE, use SQL Server Management Studio Express to reattach the databases to SQL Server 2005 Express.
