Using ScanConnect 6, 7.0 or 7.1 with Laserfiche Scanning 7.2

November 14, 2006 | KB: 1011203
ScanConnect 6, ScanConnect 7.0, ScanConnect 7.1

Summary

If you have ScanConnect installed when you upgrade Laserfiche Scanning to version 7.2, your ScanConnect installation will automatically be updated as well. If you are performing a fresh installation of ScanConnect, have uninstalled ScanConnect, or need to reinstall ScanConnect at any point after the upgrade, however, you may need to manually update your ScanConnect installation files to work with Laserfiche Scanning 7.2.

Resolution1

Use the Laserfiche ScanConnect 7.1.1 installation CD. ScanConnect 7.1.1 includes the updated installation files needed for compatibility with Laserfiche Scanning 7.2.x.

Resolution 2

To manually update your ScanConnect 6, 7.0, or 7.1 installations, you will need the installation files located on your ScanConnect installation CD. You will also need to replace the setup.inx and lfisiseng.dll files from the original installation package with updated versions of those files.

Note: This process only updates the Laserfiche files in your ScanConnect installation. It does not affect the scanner drivers themselves.

To manually update ScanConnect 6, 7.0.x or 7.1.x with Laserfiche Scanning 7.2

  1. Copy the ScanConnect installation files from your installation CD to a temporary location on the hard drive of the computer on which you will be installing ScanConnect.
  2. Click the following link to download a zip file containing the files setup.inx and lfisiseng.dll:
    setup.zip
  3. Copy the setup.inx and lfisiseng.dll files extracted from the zip file into the ScanConnect installation folder. This will replace the older version of the setup.inx file.
  4. Run Setup.exe to begin the installation.
  5. You will be prompted for a license file. Use the new ScanConnect 7.2 license (version=7.2).

Note: This process will install a version of ScanConnect which is compatible with Laserfiche Scanning 7.2.

More Information

Once this manual update has been completed, the ScanConnect installation will be able to correctly copy the new version of lfisiseng.dll into its final location in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor\LF ISIS Engine, and will handle registering the file.
