Summary

The Repository Registration wizard, Repository Creation wizard, and the Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration wizard are not compatible with Windows XP (Service Pack 1 and earlier).

Cause

Laserfiche 7.2 and later uses the version of SQLDMO.dll that comes with Microsoft SQL Server 2005. The new version of SQLDMO.dll contains incompatibilities with versions of Windows XP prior to Service Pack 2.

Workaround

Use the SkipServerList registry value stored under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche\Client\Profile\Options key to stop the Repository Registration wizard, Repository Creation wizard, and the Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration wizard from using the unstable function.

To set the SkipServerList registry value

1. Click Start and then click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and then click OK to load the Windows Registry Editor:

   regedt32

3. Browse to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche\Client\Profile\Options key.
4. From the Edit menu, point to New and select String value.
5. Name the new string:

   SkipServerList

6. Double-click the newly created string and set its value to 1.

Note: This option prevents the Repository Registration wizard, Repository Creation wizard, and the Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration wizard from automatically retrieving a list of available Microsoft SQL databases. You will have to manually specify your SQL Server and database information.
