The Send to Laserfiche Feature Can Interfere with Functionality in Microsoft Word 2003 and Word 2007.

February 7, 2007 | KB: 1011187
Laserfiche 7

Summary

In certain situations, the Send to Laserfiche feature may prevent the mouse from functioning correctly in Microsoft Word 2003 and Word 2007. In addition, when you double-click on a Word document from Windows explorer, Microsoft Word may not directly open up to that document.

Resolution

There is a hotfix available for Laserfiche 7.2.x and Microsoft Word 2007. The fix removes the need for a "Send to Laserfiche.dot" file when using Microsoft Office 2007. Please see the following Knowledge Base article for the hotfix files:

1011746 Office Integration and Text Extraction May Not Function Correctly With Microsoft Office 2007.

If you are using Microsoft Word 2003, please see the following workaround.

Workaround

The "Send to Laserfiche.dot" or the "Normal.dot" templates are corrupted and are incorrectly affecting Microsoft Word. Delete the templates and restart Word. The templates will be automatically regenerated the next time you start Word.

To delete the templates

  1. Close all instances of Microsoft Word 2003 or Word 2007. Use the Windows Task Manager to verify that there is no WINWORD.EXE process still running.
  2. Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.
  3. Delete the "Send to Laserfiche.dot" file.
  4. Delete the "Normal.dot" file.
