More Information
See the following list of known issues for version 7.2
Product | Known Issue |
Laserfiche Administration Console | 1011212 Repository Registration When Using MSDE May Be Unexpectedly Slow. (26603) |
Laserfiche Administration Console | 1011192 The Repository Registration Wizard, Repository Creation Wizard, and the Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration Wizard Do Not Function On Computers Running Windows XP. (25904) |
Laserfiche Administration Console | 1000966 The Laserfiche Administration Console Loads Slowly in Certain Situations. (15650) |
Laserfiche Administration Console | When using the Laserfiche client, users that have not been granted a specific security tag are still able to see the existence of documents that have been associated with that security tag if they have been granted the Manage Entry Access privilege. However, this functionality is not fully available when using the Laserfiche Administration Console. This means that users with the Manage Entry Access privilege will not be able to use the Checked Out Documents item in the Laserfiche Administration Console to see checked out documents that are associated with a security tag that they do not have. (25025) |
Laserfiche Administration Console | A Windows user account associated with a Laserfiche user account will not be copied when copying & pasting user accounts within the same repository when using the Laserfiche Administration Console. (18860) |
Client | On Windows Vista or later, the Document Viewer loads all thumbnails in a document instead of only loading those thumbnails that are visible. Opening large documents may take a long time when the Thumbnail Pane is enabled in the Document Viewer. (49012) |
Client | 1011207 E-mail Attachments That Are Imported as a Separate Document May Not Be Automatically Indexed. (26472) |
Client | 1011202 The Folder Browser Window May Not Repaint Correctly When Dragging Items and Using the Auto-Scrolling Feature. (26281) |
Client | 1011110 An "Error 7390 (Object Locked)" Error Occurs When Migrating a Document from the Search Results. (16839) |
Client | 1011098 An "Error 1722" Occurs When Installing the Laserfiche Client. |
Client | 1011086 An "Internal error 2738." Error Occurs When Installing Laserfiche. |
Client | 1011085 An "Unknown error. [2500]" Error Occurs When Importing Documents into a Laserfiche Repository. |
Client | 1011084 An "Ordinal 75 not found in mapi32.dll." Error Occurs When Starting the Laserfiche Client. |
Client | 1011082 A "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting runtime" Error Occurs When Starting the Installation. |
Client | 1011079 A "Loading MSXML parser failed" Error Occurs When Importing a Briefcase or Attaching a Volume. |
Client | 1001090 An "Error: 6000 (null)" Error Occurs When Sending E-mails with Attachments from Outlook 2003. (23604) |
Client | 1000807 A "The repository was not found [7023]" Error Occurs When Unregistering a Local Repository. (17330) |
Client | 1000697 Issues When Using the Laserfiche Client 6 with the Laserfiche Server 7. |
Client | 1000698 Using the Laserfiche Client 6 and Laserfiche Client 7 on the Same Computer. |
Client | 1000676 A "[7050] Open database failed: Cannot generate SSPI context." Error Occurs When Creating a New Repository. |
Client | When you use the E-mail plug-in to send a .msg electronic document from Laserfiche, the name of the attachment will be the subject of the .msg file instead of the document name. (19729) |
Client | You cannot directly drag-and-drop e-mail messages with subjects that contain a tab or carriage return into the Laserfiche client. You will not receive an error message. However, the process will not be successful. As a workaround, first forward the e-mail message or save the e-mail message to the hard disk before attempting to drag-and-drop the e-mail message into the Laserfiche client. Microsoft Outlook automatically strips out the tab or carriage return character when you forward or save the e-mail message. Another workaround is to use the Send to Laserfiche menu option instead of the drag-and-drop feature. (28390) |
Client | Custom toolbar icons that are set in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Laserfiche\Client\Profile are ignored by the client (26479) |
Client | Field data can be set for multiple documents by selecting them and then loading the Fields tab of the Metadata dialog box. If at least one document has a different value for a particular field, the field will display "Multiple Values Assigned" using a green font. If the field is a list field, the values displayed in the list are incorrectly displayed using a green font. (26323) |
Client | 1011218 White Redactions and Dark Color Highlights May Not Print Correctly. (26689, 26274) |
Client | An invalid pointer error can occur when two users are creating document versions that involve the same set of documents if the documents do not yet belong to an existing version group. (25923) |
Client | When importing an e-mail message, Laserfiche can attempt to automatically retrieve the sender's e-mail address and the recipient's e-mail address. This feature is only supported for e-mail addresses that are in SMTP format. If the e-mail address is in a different format, Laserfiche inserts |
Client | The Import to Laserfiche dialog box cannot display the Links tab. (25171) |
Client | Importing a Laserfiche briefcase through a Laserfiche client instance will load up two dialog boxes: the Importing Files dialog box and the Import Briefcase dialog box. The Abort button on the Importing Files dialog box does not function until the Import Briefcase dialog box is first closed. (24896) |
Client | The search wait cursor displays while the Laserfiche Server performs the actual search. The search wait cursor disappears when the Laserfiche Server finishes the search and the Laserfiche client is waiting for the results to load. Be aware that if there is a large number of search results, loading the results can take a long time. While the Laserfiche client is active during this waiting phase, be aware that trying to perform other actions may cause the client to become unresponsive until the results finish loading. (24833) |
Client | When you import a new version of a document, the Import New Version dialog box allows you to select a Laserfiche briefcase file even though it is illogical to try to set a briefcase as a version of a document. If you attempt to import a briefcase in this manner, Laserfiche will successfully import the contents of the briefcase. However, you will receive an error 6000 message. (24215) |
Client | The default Microsoft Office IFilter included with Windows may not successfully retrieve all words that are in a PowerPoint file. The retrieved text can sometimes be missing words. This is an issue with the IFilter. This issue does not affect the retrieved text if you have Microsoft PowerPoint installed on the same computer. The Office IFilter is only used when the Office file's corresponding application is not installed. (23728) |
Client | 1011240 Version 6.0 of Adobe's PDF IFilter can cause the Laserfiche client to crash when you attempt to close the Laserfiche client. This issue does not occur when using version 5.0 of Adobe's PDF IFilter. (23683)
Note: Be aware that Adobe Acrobat 7 and Adobe Reader 7 automatically install version 6.0 of the PDF IFilter. You can still work around this issue by downloading and installing version 5.0 of the PDF IFilter. |
Client | Checking in or checking out an electronic document is not audited. (23522) |
Client | A document's metadata is not automatically copied when you drag and drop a document from one client instance to another client instance. (24170) |
Client | The idle timeout limit only applies to users logged in through the Laserfiche Client. (23959) |
Client | Scrolling up and down rapidly in a folder with a large number of documents can cause the Laserfiche client to crash. (20679) |
Client | Embedded macros in a Microsoft Office document may run when you retrieve text using the basic text retrieval support provided by Laserfiche, instead of an IFilter. In newer versions of Office, macros are disabled by default. This issue is more likely to occur when you are using an older version of Office. (20614) |
Client | The option to create custom toolbar buttons is only available for the folder browser window. You cannot create custom toolbar buttons for the document window. (20117) |
Client | Highlights and watermarks may print as solid color blocks when printing to PDF Distiller. (19513) |
Client | Certain printer drivers contain an option called "Print graphics as raster." If your printer driver contains this option, make sure it is enabled. If it is not enabled, image highlights and watermarks may print as solid color blocks. (18350) |
Client | The thumbnail for a color image can sometimes be in grayscale. Thumbnails have a size limit. Thumbnails for certain complex color images may exceed this buffer size limit. If this situation occurs, Laserfiche then converts the thumbnail to grayscale to further reduce the size. (17808) |
Client | If you have a Microsoft Office program installed, but have never started the program, you may encounter a configuration issue when you start the Laserfiche Client. You will be prompted for the Microsoft Office CD or error 1706 will be reported. As a workaround, simply start any Microsoft Office program. For more information, please see Microsoft Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;298385. |
Client | Microsoft Outlook 2002 may display a "Virus attack" message each time Office Integration is used with Outlook. This is the default Outlook behavior when a menu item is added to Outlook 2002. This is not a security issue involving a virus. (11762) |
Client | If the folder path specified for archiving audit events does not exist, you may receive a 7361 error. (16030) |
Client | An administrator with the Manage Trustees privilege can delete Laserfiche user and group accounts. If this administrator does not also have the Set Trustee Privileges privilege, deleting all user and group accounts can create a scenario where the remaining administrator is unable to recreate the full set of user accounts. (10881) |
All drag and drop operations from the Laserfiche Client into Windows copy the item rather than moving it, regardless of the prompt displayed. (24114)
The Outlook New Message window appears when sending a Laserfiche document as an e-mail attachment. If the main Microsoft Outlook application is also open, you will be unable to toggle between the two Outlook windows. Only the Outlook New Message window will be available while it is open. (18482)
Firewall Compatibility Component | 1011167 Uninstalling One Component of the Firewall Compatibility Component Can Corrupt The Other Component If Both Are Installed On the Same Computer. (25824) |
Laserfiche Repository Upgrade Utility | If you unregistered a network repository hosted by the Laserfiche Server (Team) prior to upgrading the Laserfiche Server, the associated databases will be detached from MSDE. The Insert option of the Laserfiche Repository Upgrade utility will not attach any detached MSDE databases to MSDE. You will need to manually attach these databases to MSDE prior to upgrading the repository through the Laserfiche Repository Upgrade utility. (20668) |
Laserfiche Repository Upgrade Utility | Data in the AuditSeries SQL table will not be kept when upgrading from Laserfiche 7.0.x to Laserfiche 7.1 or 7.2. If you wish to retain the data stored in this table, make sure to archive your audit logs before upgrading. This issue only affects installations that take advantage of Laserfiche Audit Trail and Laserfiche Records Management. (20259) |
Server | 1011193 A "Fatal error during installation." Error Occurs When Uninstalling Laserfiche Server. (25663) |
Server | 1011190 A "7050 error executing SQL command" Error Occurs When Viewing a Folder. (21258) |
Server | 1011189 Template Matching Behavior May Be Unexpectedly Broad when Attaching a Volume. (22407) |
Server | 1011130 Moving a Document By Drag/Drop Can Result in Slow Performance. (24482) |
Server | 1011127 Laserfiche Server 7 Becomes Unresponsive for Laserfiche Client 6 Instances. (17232) |
Server | 1001110 Versions of Laserfiche That Utilize MSDE 2000 are Not Compatible With Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express. (23910) |
Server | 1000981 Laserfiche Performance Counters for a Server Are Not Available When Logged on to that Server Through a Remote Desktop Session. (19048) |
Server | 1000765 Configuring Laserfiche to be Firewall Compatible. |
Server | 1000710 Configuration Information for Laserfiche Server (Version 7) and Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1). |
Server | The Laserfiche Server service may not start if it runs under the Local System account. You may receive error 183. Set the service to run under a named user account. |
Server | You will not be able to log in using Windows authentication if the Laserfiche Server's IP address does not match its DNS name. (26189) |
Server | When modifying the definition of a retention schedule, you may receive error 7934 if you clear the Records must be superseded check box and add a transfer at the same time. If you click OK when the error message appears and then reapply your changes, the action will succeed. (26105) |
Server | The $Parent$ and $Parent:FieldName$ tokens do not function when the parent field is of type date and the child field is of type char if there is a date constraint on the child field. You will receive an error 7940 in this situation. (25915) |
Server | When you unregister a Laserfiche repository that is associated with a MSDE database, Laserfiche can attempt to also detach the associated database from MSDE. However, the detach process will be unsuccessful if there are any remaining connections to that SQL database. (25322) |
Server | If a user is denied the Read field access right on all fields in a template, the Fields tab of the Metadata dialog box, will display the document as having no template assigned. However, the user will be able to see the name of the assigned template if the folder browser is configured to display the Template Name column. (24573) |
Server | If the computer hosting the Laserfiche Server is using a non-English code page, you may have to manually restart the Laserfiche Server service every time you restart the computer. (24182) |
Server | The Laserfiche briefcase created when exporting records for a transfer or confirming an accession includes all records that are in the current record folder regardless of current disposition eligibility. This means that records that are currently not actually eligible for transfer or final disposition are still included in the exported briefcase. (24007) |
Server | If a retention schedule is configured to retain metadata after final disposition and a record folder has various records in different states of retention, accessioning or destroying such a record folder may log another "Enter Final Disposition" audit event for those records that have already previously entered final disposition. (23886) |
Server | Be aware that it is possible for a Laserfiche administrator to modify security settings for a checked out electronic document such that the user who checked out the document will be unable to check it back in. (23555) |
Server | The ability to view sticky notes is tied to the See Annotations entry access right. However, if you have not been granted the Read volume access right, you will not be able to view the images for a document, and thus will not be able to view the sticky notes placed on the images. This can lead to a security setup where a user may be able to search and retrieve sticky note text search results, but when the user opens the document, the sticky notes will not be displayed. (21901) |
Server | Some record metadata is not read-only after the final disposition if the record follows a "requires superseded" retention schedule. (23947) |
Server | You cannot create or modify volume paths using mapped drives. You can use UNC paths to access network storage disks. (20978) |
Server | Document and folder names can have a maximum length of 255 characters. If you specify a name longer than 255 characters, the name is silently truncated to 255 characters. Be aware that for record series, the 255 character limit applies to the sum of the series code plus series name. (20809) |
Server | When importing a briefcase, Laserfiche is unable to match templates that have different list field values for a list field even if the templates are otherwise identical. In this situation, Laserfiche will create a new template. (20798) |
Server | You cannot modify the field data associated with an electronic document when that electronic document is open, even if you are the one that has the document open. (20445) |
Server | Adding support for Arabic to Windows may prevent the creation of a new repository. Restart the SQL Server and Laserfiche Server services. (15351) |
Server | $Time$ tokens in a character field are always replaced using 24-hour time format. (19978) |
Server | Due to changes to Laserfiche Records Management, do not use Laserfiche Client 7.0.x or 7.1.x to perform records management operations. (19216, 19169, 19167, 19110) |
Server | When using a terminal server, Laserfiche Snapshot 7.0.1 and earlier, Quick Fields 7.1 and earlier, Import Agent 6, and Laserfiche Client 6 will not share with the Laserfiche Client 7 a connection to the Laserfiche Server. (17446) |
Server | A search cannot be cancelled. You can cancel a search from within the Laserfiche client. However, cancelling a search will simply cause the client to stop waiting for a complete list of search results and it will return the client to a usable state. The search process will continue to run on the server as a background process until it is completed. (13655) |
Server | The Laserfiche Server service will not shut down if any process (i.e. Laserfiche Client, Web Access, WebLink, etc.) is still connected to the Laserfiche Server after a crash. If this occurs, then you should end the Server process using Windows Task Manager. (11501) |
Server | Laserfiche Server may become unstable if documents are imported while Microsoft SQL Server is running a scheduled job. (8572) |
