Color Images in a Microsoft Word Document Print as Solid Black Blocks.

Snapshot 7

Summary

When you use Laserfiche Snapshot to generate pages for a Microsoft Word document that contains embedded images, the generated pages contain solid black blocks where the embedded images should be.

Cause

This situation can occur when using a Snapshot printer that is configured to generate black & white pages. If Snapshot is not properly configured, it will be unable to properly output a black & white version of the embedded images. Configure the Snapshot printer to use dithering.

Resolution

Snapshot provides a variety of dithering filters.

To print embedded images in black & white

  1. Open the Word document you wish to print.
  2. From the File menu, select Print.
  3. Check to make sure that the printer name selected in the Print dialog box is Laserfiche Snapshot.
  4. Click Properties. The Printing Preferences or the Laserfiche Snapshot 7 Properties dialog box will appear.
  5. Click the File Formats tab.
  6. Under Color Depth, make sure that the Monochrome option is selected.
  7. In the Photo Quality section, select the desired dithering algorithm.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Print or OK to print a black & white version of the Word document.
