A "WebLink requires IIS 5.0 or greater." Error Occurs When Installing WebLink 7.

Summary

When installing WebLink 7, you may receive the following error message:

    WebLink requires IIS 5.0 or greater.

Cause

The WebLink installation cannot verify that IIS is installed on the current computer. The WebLink installation checks for the existence of the local path specified for the IIS default web site. If the default directory has been moved, WebLink will be unable to locate it, and the error message will be received.

Resolution

Verify that the path specified in the Local Path option for the Default Directory in IIS.

To specify the local path of the IIS default web site

  1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
  2. Select Administrative Tools.
  3. Select Internet Information Services.
  4. Expand the server.
  5. Expand Web Sites.
  6. Select Default Web Site.
  7. From the Action menu, select Properties.
  8. Select the Home Directory tab.
  9. Take note of the path specified in the Local Path option.
  10. If the specified path does not exist, perform one of the following:
    • Locate where the folder was moved to and move it back to match the specified path.
    • Change the path to match the actual location of the folder.
