Laserfiche ScanConnect Does Not Completely Uninstall.

Summary

ScanConnect may not completely uninstall. When attempting to uninstall, you may encounter an error message box containing an exclamation point (!). After receiving this message, you may be unable to uninstall or reinstall ScanConnect or install another version of ScanConnect. You will receive the following error message:

    A previous version of ScanConnect was installed on this computer. You should uninstall it before installing this version.

Workaround

You can manually uninstall ScanConnect by removing the registry keys, LF.ini entries, folders, and files associated with the ScanConnect installation. ScanConnect can be installed with the Laserfiche client, with Quick Fields, or with both applications. This can result in multiple sets of keys. All of the relevant registry keys must be removed from all locations for a given installation.

Note: Some of the following folders or registry keys may already be removed by the failed uninstallation process.

To manually uninstall ScanConnect 6 or 7

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and press ENTER:

    regedt32

  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  4. Expand SOFTWARE.
  5. Expand Laserfiche.
  6. Delete the ScanConnect registry key.
  7. From SOFTWARE, expand Microsoft.
  8. Expand Windows.
  9. Expand CurrentVersion.
  10. Expand Uninstall.
  11. Delete the {552BEA54-33F2-4C19-AC43-D0F39064143D} registry key.
  12. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information.
  13. Delete the {552BEA54-33F2-4C19-AC43-D0F39064143D} folder.
  14. Navigate to C:\Windows.
  15. Delete the PIXTRAN folder.

To remove the ScanConnect 6 registry keys associated with Laserfiche client 7

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and press ENTER:

    regedt32

  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  4. Expand SOFTWARE.
  5. Expand Laserfiche.
  6. Expand Laserfiche Scanning.
  7. Expand Processes.
  8. Expand Engines.
  9. Select the ScanConnect registry key.
  10. From the Edit menu, click Delete.

To remove the ScanConnect 6 LF.ini entry associated with Laserfiche client 6

  1. Locate the LF.ini file. By default, it is located at C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Lf, where UserName is the name of the Windows user, or at C:\Windows.
  2. Delete the following line in the [Options] section:

    ScanEngine=LFWISISN.EXE

To remove the ScanConnect 6 registry keys associated with Laserfiche Quick Fields

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and press ENTER:

    regedt32

  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  4. Expand SOFTWARE.
  5. Expand Laserfiche.
  6. Expand Batch Processor
  7. Expand Processes.
  8. Expand Engines.
  9. Select the ScanConnect registry key.
  10. From the Edit menu, click Delete.
