Summary

The combination of having both the Modify Contents entry access right and the Modify/Delete volume access right grants a user the ability to delete pages from a document. Users without the Delete entry access right will not be able to delete the document itself.

The Modify Contents entry access right grants users the ability to modify, add, move or delete pages, rotate images, move documents and folders to other locations in the repository, and OCR or extract text from documents.

The Modify/Delete volume access right grants users the ability to modify or delete pages from a document, and OCR or extract text from documents.

Note: Users must have both the Modify Contents entry access right and the Modify/Delete volume access right in order to successfully perform actions controlled by both rights.

The Delete feature right affects the ability to delete the document itself, but does not control the ability to delete individual pages. A user that is granted both the Modify Contents entry access right and the Modify/Delete volume access right can delete pages from a document even if they do not possess the Delete feature right.

To allow a user to be able to add, move, and rotate pages within a document without the ability to delete pages from the document or OCR the document, grant the user the Modify Contents entry access right while denying the Modify/Delete volume access right.

A user does not need the Modify Contents entry access right nor the Modify/Delete volume access right in order to import or scan pages into a document. In this case, the user only needs the Append Data entry access right and the Append Data volume access right.
