Summary

Scanning with Laserfiche Twain may produce unusually large, uncompressed images.

Resolution 1

This issue is resolved in Laserfiche Scanning client 7.1.2. Please upgrade to the latest version of Laserfiche.

Resolution 2

There is a hotfix available for this issue. The fix is an updated version of LFTwain.dll. This fix is included in version 7.1.0.4 or later of LFTwain.dll.

To update Laserfiche Scanning 7.1

  1. Click here to download a zip file containing LFTwain.dll (version 7.1.0.4).
  2. Close any instances of Laserfiche Scanning and the Laserfiche client.
  3. Replace the LFTwain.dll located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor\LFTwain with the one included in the zip file.
  4. Register LFTwain.dll.
    1. Click Start and then click Run.
    2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and then click OK to register LFTwain.dll:

      regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor\LFTwain\LFTwain.dll"

More Information

This hotfix will not compress the unusually large images previously created by scanning with Twain. In order to return the files to their proper sizes, you will need to use a file compression application. Once the files have been compressed, you can recalculate the volume's size.
