Field Information Is Not Retained When Creating A Document From Existing Pages.

Laserfiche 7.1

Summary

The Laserfiche client 7.1 or 7.1.1 may not retain field information for documents created from the pages of an existing document. If you select one or more pages from an existing document and use the Create New Document command from the File menu, the field information will be preserved if the field tab is not opened. However, if the field tab is opened, all field information for the new document will be lost.

Workaround

You can set a registry value that will cause document creation to work as it did in Laserfiche version 7.0.3. Although this will allow you to retain field information when creating a document from an existing document, it will also remove document creation features introduced in version 7.1. The features that will be removed include the ability to specify document properties (other than field data) when importing files and the ability to specify a Laserfiche folder and volume when creating a document from the pages of an existing document.

To configure Laserfiche to use legacy document creation behavior

  1. From the Start menu, select Run.
  2. Type the following and then press ENTER to start the Windows Registry Editor.

    regedt32

  3. Expand My Computer.
  4. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
  5. Expand SOFTWARE.
  6. Expand Laserfiche.
  7. Expand client.
  8. Expand Profile.
  9. Select Settings.
  10. From the Edit menu, point to New, and then select String value.
  11. Set the name of the string value to "UseOldImport."
  12. Double-click "UseOldImport" and set the Value data option to "1."
  13. Close and re-open the Laserfiche client.
