The Autoname Feature is Not Used When Creating a Document From Existing Pages.

August 10, 2005 | KB: 1011010
Laserfiche 7.1

Summary

By default, a document created from the pages of an existing Laserfiche document will not be named according to the default document name configured in the Autoname Options dialog box. Instead, it will be named after the document from which the pages originated.

Workaround

You can set a registry value that will cause document creation to work as it did in Laserfiche version 7.0.3. Although this will allow you to take advantage of the autoname feature when creating a document from existing pages, it will also remove document creation features introduced in version 7.1. The features that will be removed include the ability to specify document properties (other than field data) when importing files and the ability to specify a Laserfiche folder and volume when creating a document from the pages of an existing document.

To configure Laserfiche to use legacy document creation behavior

  1. From the Start menu, select Run.
  2. Type the following and then press ENTER to start the Windows Registry Editor.

    regedt32

  3. Expand My Computer.
  4. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
  5. Expand SOFTWARE.
  6. Expand Laserfiche.
  7. Expand Client.
  8. Expand Profile.
  9. Select Settings.
  10. From the Edit menu, point to New, and then select String value.
  11. Set the name of the string value to "UseOldImport."
  12. Double-click "UseOldImport" and set the Value data option to "1."
  13. Close and re-open the Laserfiche Client.
