There are two circumstances under which Laserfiche ScanConnect is compatible with Laserfiche Scanning 7.1. You can purchase a copy of Laserfiche ScanConnect 7.1, or you can upgrade your existing copy of Laserfiche ScanConnect 6.0 or 7.0 to make it compatible with Laserfiche Scanning 7.1. This article discusses the implications of upgrading Laserfiche ScanConnect 6.0 or 7.0 for use with Laserfiche Scanning 7.1.

Laserfiche ScanConnect consists of two parts: scanner drivers created by Pixel Translations and Laserfiche components that allow Laserfiche Scanning or Laserfiche Quick Fields to interact with those drivers. Due to royalty agreements with Pixel Translations, Laserfiche cannot offer LSAP agreements or provide free downloads of new scanner drivers provided by Pixel Translations.

In order to keep Laserfiche ScanConnect compatible with new versions of Laserfiche Scanning, Laserfiche has released a Laserfiche ScanConnect Upgrade Utility. This upgrades the portion of Laserfiche ScanConnect 6.0 or 7.0 created by Laserfiche, and will make it compatible with Laserfiche 7.1 and 7.1.1. If you are performing a new installation of Laserfiche ScanConnect 6 for use with Laserfiche Scanning 7.1, you can use the ScanConnect 6 to 7 Helper utility to upgrade ScanConnect 6 for use with Scanning 7.1 at the time of installation. If you are performing a new installation of ScanConnect 7.0, you will need to install ScanConnect 7.0 and then run the ScanConnect upgrade utility.

These upgrade utilities make previous versions of Laserfiche ScanConnect compatible with Laserfiche Scanning 7.1; however they do not upgrade scanner drivers. If you would like to upgrade your scanner drivers, then you would need to purchase and install Laserfiche ScanConnect 7.1. You can also contact your scanner manufacturer for information on new scanner drivers.

Earlier versions of Laserfiche ScanConnect will continue to operate with Laserfiche 7.1 and 7.1.1 in most respects. However, the Select Paper Source and Select Paper Size toolbar options will be disabled. These settings can be accessed through the Scanner Options and Additional Settings menu items.

Due to limitations in the scanner drivers provided by Pixel Translations, scanners connected through USB may not be supported in the upgraded version of Laserfiche ScanConnect. However, they will work in the full version of Laserfiche ScanConnect 7.1. If your USB scanner is not working properly, you may need to purchase Laserfiche ScanConnect 7.1.
