Summary

SQL Databases must be attached to their Database Management System before the Laserfiche Repository Upgrade Utility can be run. If the database is not attached, the utility cannot upgrade the repository. Unlike the Laserfiche 6 to 7 migration wizard, the Laserfiche Repository Upgrade Utility cannot attach the database to the DBMS.

In most cases, it is not necessary to detach a database before a repository is updated. However, you may have detached the database in order to move the files to another location during the upgrade. If you are using MSDE, the files may have been automatically detached from the DBMS if you unregistered the repository. If the database was detached, you will need to attach it to the DBMS before running the Repository Upgrade Utility.

Note: If you are using MSDE or Microsoft SQL Server: Personal Edition, you will need to attach both the main database and any expansion databases.
