Summary

When an electronic document is open in its native application and you attempt to edit the field data for that document, you may receive the following error message:

Could not lock document for writing
Object locked [7390]

Cause

Laserfiche locks an electronic document when it is open in its native application to prevent editing conflicts. However, instead of only locking the electronic file portion of the electronic document, Laserfiche currently locks the entire electronic document. This prevents even the user who opened the electronic document from editing field data for that document.

Workaround

Please close the electronic document in its native application before modifying field data.
