LaserFiche Server Won't Start After Upgrading.

March 12, 2004 | KB: 100183
Server 6

Summary

The LaserFiche Server Maintenance Patch may revert the dependency of the LaserFiche Server to MSSQLSERVER, regardless of whether the administrator has created another instance of the Microsoft SQL Server. If the MSSQLSERVER instance cannot be found, then this may prevent the LaserFiche Server from starting.

Resolution

Install LaserFiche Server version 6.03 or higher.

And:
If the LaserFiche Server won't start because the dependency has been modified by the maintenance patch, then you should manually reset the dependency in the registry to the proper SQL Server instance. This can be performed by modifying the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LaserFiche for Microsoft SQL Server\DependonService" registry key to the name of the new SQL Server instance. After modifying the registry, you should restart the computer hosting the LaserFiche Server.

Warning: Microsoft provides the following warning regarding registry modification: "Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. At the very least, you should back up any valued data on the computer before making changes to the registry."

More Information

If the LaserFiche Server should use another instance of SQL Server and the dependency has been reset to MSSQLSERVER, then you will receive error 1075.

The latest version of the LaserFiche Server Maintenance Patch will no longer change the LaserFiche Server dependency.
