Summary

Certain types of electronic documents (i.e. .mdb and .hlp) cannot be printed as an entity. Printing these types of documents require that an individual component (such as a table or help topic) be selected. An error will occur if the OCR process is attempted on these type of documents.

The more common types of files affected by this issue are listed below:

• Compiled HTML Help (.chm)
• Windows Help (.hlp)
• Log Files (.log)
• Access Database Files (.mdb)
• XML (.xml)

If you are having trouble OCRing an electronic document and would like to know whether it can be printed from within LaserFiche, then you can check whether the electronic document can be printed from Windows Explorer. If Windows Explorer allows the file to be printed, then you should be able to OCR it from within LaserFiche. However, if printing requires that the file be opened, then you will not be able to OCR it from LaserFiche.
