Move Feature Right Controls Too Many Privileges.

Laserfiche 6, Plus 6

Summary

The Move object feature right determines whether users can move pages out of a document, rename objects (documents, electronic documents, batches, folders, or shortcuts), and create folders.

Resolution

Install LaserFiche Client, Desktop, Executive, Intuition, MinuteFile, Notebook, Personal Edition, or Plus version 6.04 or higher.

Network Installations: Install LaserFiche Server version 6.04 or higher.

Note: If you do not wish to upgrade LaserFiche, then you should refer to the workaround.

More Information

The Move feature right now determines whether documents, electronic documents, batches, folders, and shortcuts can be moved between folders. It also determines whether pages can be moved from a document.

Workaround

If a user should have the ability to create folders or to rename objects, then you may grant the Move object feature right to that user. You should then use the Create and/or the Rename access right to determine whether the user can perform the action for a given object.

Warning: Granting the Move object feature right allows users to move the document between folders. If you are relying upon security inheritance to safeguard your documents, then users may circumvent it by moving it to a folder to which they have been granted additional rights.
