Summary

Appending a briefcase to an existing briefcase may prevent the briefcase from being imported into a LaserFiche database. Appending a briefcase has this effect when the briefcase to be appended contains an index card template for which no documents were assigned to in the original briefcase.

Resolution

Install LaserFiche Client, Desktop, Executive, Intuition, MinuteFile, Notebook, Personal Edition, or Plus version 6.04 or higher.

Network Installations: Install LaserFiche Server version 6.04 or higher.

Note: If you do not wish to upgrade LaserFiche, then you should refer to the workaround.

More Information

Attempting to import briefcases affected by this issue will cause an Invalid briefcase file (6396) message. After which, LaserFiche may become unstable. Upgrading LaserFiche will allow these types of briefcases to be safely imported into a database.

Workaround

Create a new briefcase, instead of appending documents to an existing briefcase.
