Deletion and Indexing Issues With Large Text Files.

March 12, 2004 | KB: 100111
Laserfiche 6, Plus 6

Summary

Importing a text document over 29,000 bytes will create an empty first page that can't be deleted. Additionally, the document cannot be indexed. This will prevent the user from performing a full-text search on the document.

Resolution

Install LaserFiche Client, Desktop, Executive, Intuition, Notebook, or Plus version 6.04 or higher.

Network Installations: Install LaserFiche Server version 6.04 or higher.

Note: If you do not wish to upgrade LaserFiche, then you should refer to the workaround.

More Information

Upgrading LaserFiche will break up all text files into indexable text pages.

Workaround

A workaround for this issue is to break up the text file into several files that are smaller than 29,000 bytes. Import the text files into the database. Using the thumbnail view, merge the text documents into a single document. If the document is already in the database, then you should export it as text and then try the workaround.
