Laserfiche Server 7 Does Not Support Microsoft SQL Server Databases That Have a Case-Sensitive or Certain Accent-Sensitive Collation Type.

December 2, 2005 | KB: 1001104
Server (MSDE) 7, Server (MSSQL) 7

Summary

Laserfiche Server is incompatible with a Microsoft SQL Server instance using certain collation types. Case-sensitive collations are not supported. Certain accent-sensitive collations are also not supported. For example, the "Traditional_Spanish_CI_AS" collation is incompatible while the "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" collation is compatible. Attempting to use Laserfiche Server 7 with such a Microsoft SQL Server configuration will log numerous 7050 errors in your Laserfiche Server's LFS.log file.

One early sign that you are attempting to use a SQL database with an incompatible collation is if you receive the following error message when creating a repository:

[7050] Open repository 'YourRepository' failed: Invalid object name 'Stamp'

More Information

Manually creating a SQL database with a case-insensitive or accent-insensitive collation specifically for use with Laserfiche is not sufficient. Laserfiche Server will remain incompatible with a Microsoft SQL Server instance as long as the master database is set to an incompatible collation type.
