Summary

The Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration wizard (version 7.1.x) features increased speed and better error reporting. It also allows you to check for possible issues with your version 6 SQL database before performing the actual migration. A special version of the migration wizard (version 7.1) was created so that users using Laserfiche 7.0.x could utilize the new features when migrating from Laserfiche 6 to Laserfiche 7.0.2/7.0.3.

Resolution

Before upgrading your existing Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration wizard (version 7.0.x), take note of the following:

• This version of the Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration Wizard can only be used to migrate to a MSSQL or MSDE database and cannot be used to migrate to an Oracle database.
• You must have a 7.0.x version of the Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration wizard already installed.
• The Register Repository step of this version of the migration wizard will not be able to register your repository. At the Register Repository step, you must cancel out of the dialog box. You must then register your newly migrated Laserfiche repository through the Laserfiche Administration Console.

To upgrade your existing Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration wizard (version 7.0.x)

1. Click here to download a zip file containing the necessary files.
2. Replace the LF6to7MigrationUtil.exe located in the Admin folder of the Laserfiche Client with the one included in the zip file. By default, the file should be in C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client\Admin.
3. Replace the LFDB.dll located in the Admin folder of the Laserfiche Client with the one included in the zip file. By default, the file should be in C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client\Admin.

   Note: Do not replace any other copies of LFDB.dll as that can cause Laserfiche to stop functioning. Only replace the LFDB.dll located in the same folder as the Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration Utility.

4. Replace the existing migration.chm with the one included in the zip file. By default, the file should be in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\Documentation\Client.
5. Copy rm.sql to C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client\Admin\SQL\ms.

Reminder: This version of the migration wizard is provided so that Laserfiche 7.0.2/7.0.3 users can utilize an improved version of the migration wizard when migrating from Laserfiche 6 to Laserfiche 7.0.2/7.0.3. This is not the actual version 7.1 Laserfiche 6 to 7 Migration wizard. If you would like to migrate from Laserfiche 6 to Laserfiche 7.1, please use the migration wizard included with the Laserfiche 7.1 installation.
