Performing OCR on Automatically Rotated Images Produces Unintelligible Text.

Summary

When you configure Laserfiche Scanning in Basic Mode to rotate images automatically and to OCR new images, the resulting text may be unintelligible.

Cause

Laserfiche Scanning was incorrectly performing the OCR process before rotating the image.

Resolution 1

This issue is resolved in Laserfiche Scanning 7.1.2. Please upgrade to the latest version of Laserfiche.

Resolution 2

There is a hotfix available for Laserfiche Scanning 7.1.1. The fix is an updated version of OCRWrapper.dll. This fix is included in OCRWrapper.dll version 7.1.0.3 and later.

  1. Click here to download OCRWrapper.dll (version 7.1.0.3).
  2. Replace the existing version in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor\LFIris with the updated version.
  3. Register the .dll file.
    1. Click Start and then click Run.
    2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and click OK to register the .dll file:

      regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor\LFIris\OCRWrapper.dll"
