Retrieval Licenses are Not Released when Read-Only Clients Log Out.

Summary

When you log out while using a read-only client, the retrieval license is not properly released. This results in you eventually running out of retrieval licenses. This issue may also affect repositories published using Laserfiche Plus 7.1 as well as standalone repositories when there is interaction between the standalone repository and a Plus 7.1 viewer.

Resolution

There is a hotfix for Laserfiche Server 7.1.1, Laserfiche Plus 7.1, and Standalone editions of Laserfiche client 7.1.1. Replace any copies of LFEng.dll (7.1.1.374) with an updated version.

Note: This hotfix has been integrated into the Laserfiche 7.1.1 and Plus 7.1 releases. All Laserfiche 7.1.1, Plus 7.1, and VAR Demo Kit CDs sent after July 19th, 2005 contain this fix. The Download Center has also been updated to include the updated versions.

To update Laserfiche Server 7.1.1

  1. Click here to download a zip file containing LFEng.dll (version 7.1.1.400).
  2. Replace the LFEng.dll found in the Laserfiche Server installation folder with the one included in the zip file.
  3. Restart the Laserfiche Server service.
    1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
    3. Double-click Services.
    4. Scroll down and select Laserfiche Server 7.x.
    5. From the Action menu, click Restart.

To update Laserfiche Plus 7.1

  1. Click here to download a zip file containing LFEng.dll (version 7.1.1.400).
  2. Replace the LFEng.dll found in both the Client installation folder and the "Plus Runtime Files\Viewer" subfolder with the one included in the zip file. By default, the Client is installed at "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client."
  3. Re-publish any desired repositories.

To update a Standalone edition of Laserfiche 7.1.1

  1. Click here to download a zip file containing LFEng.dll (version 7.1.1.400).
  2. Replace the LFEng.dll found in the installation folder. By default, a Standalone edition of the client is installed at "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client."
