Summary

The Laserfiche license control is case sensitive when comparing product names when merging additive licenses.

Symptoms

Older additive licenses could contain the name, "LaserFiche Server." A newer license will contain the name, "Laserfiche Server." Due to the case sensitive nature of the license control, it will consider the licenses different and will not merge the licenses. Because of this, the server will not recognize any additive users and you may receive the following error messages:

There are no full connections available. Would you like to use a read-only connection?

    Maximum connections exceeded [6527]

Resolution 1

This issue is resolved in Laserfiche 7.1.1. Please upgrade to the latest version of Laserfiche.

Resolution 2

There are updated versions of both LFLic.ocx and LFLic71.ocx available. The updated license controls are now case insensitive when matching product names.

  1. Click here to download a zip file containing LFLic.ocx (version 6.1.0.3) and LFLic71.ocx (version 7.1.0.2).
  2. Replace the LFLic.ocx and LFLic71.ocx found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\System with the ones contained in the zip file.
  3. Register the ocx files.
    1. Click Start and then click Run.
    2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and then click OK to register LFLic.ocx and LFLic71.ocx.

      regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\System\LfLic.ocx" "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\System\LFLic71.ocx"

  4. Restart the affected Laserfiche application.

Note: LFLic71.ocx is only used by Laserfiche Server 7.1 and the Laserfiche Standalone engine 7.1.
