Laserfiche Performance Counters May Not Successfully Register on Windows Installations with Multi-Language Support.

Summary

The registration process for Laserfiche performance counters can encounter issues on Windows installations with multi-language support. The Laserfiche Server service cannot be started if the performance counters are not registered. You may receive the following error message when starting the Laserfiche Server:

    Error 1067: 'The process terminated unexpectedly'

The Laserfiche Server lfs.log file may also contain the following error message:

    Failed to register performance monitor

Workaround

If you encounter this issue, edit the registry on the computer hosting the Laserfiche Server to disable the Laserfiche performance counters.

Warning: Incorrectly editing the registry may adversely affect your system. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs.

To disable the Laserfiche performance counters

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and then click OK to load the Windows Registry Editor:

    regedt32

  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  4. Expand SOFTWARE.
  5. Expand LASERFICHE.
  6. Expand Engine.
  7. Perform one of the following:
    • Laserfiche Server 7.1.x: Select the 7.1 registry key.
    • Laserfiche Server 7.2.x: Select the 7.2 registry key.
  8. From the Edit menu, point to New and select DWORD Value.
  9. Name the new registry value:

    PerfMon

    Note: The existence of the PerfMon registry value disables the Laserfiche performance counters. Delete the registry value to re-enable the Laserfiche performance counters.

  10. Start the Laserfiche Server service.
    1. Click Start and then click Control Panel
    2. Open Administrative Tools.
    3. Open Services.
    4. Scroll down and select Laserfiche Server 7.x.
    5. From the Action menu, click Start.
