Security Settings on a Shortcut are Determined by the Source Document or Folder.

Summary

A shortcut inherits its security settings from its source document or folder. A shortcut does not inherit rights from where it is located in the folder tree.

More Information

A user's ability to modify a shortcut, delete a shortcut, or view the source document or folder of a shortcut is determined by the user's effective entry access rights on the source document or folder. While the Laserfiche Client allows a user to set entry access rights directly on a shortcut, there will be no effect. The one exception is the Browse entry access right. The Browse entry access right allows a user to see the existence of a shortcut in its folder tree location. This means that the Browse entry access right must be explicitly set on a shortcut before a user can view the shortcut.
