Summary

If you are not using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later, Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) will prevent network access to that SQL Server instance.

Cause

Microsoft is taking this measure to help prevent worms such as Slammer from attacking unprotected computers.

Resolution

Please install the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
