Pop-up Blockers Can Prevent Web Access From Properly Functioning.

July 25, 2006 | KB: 1000991
Web Access 7

Summary

Pop-up blockers can prevent Web Access from properly functioning.

Symptoms

When opening a document, you may receive the following error message:

    Laserfiche Error

You already have this document open in another window.

You may also receive an error message similar to the following:

    Error '800407e3' /laserfiche/docview.asp, line 80

Cause

Making changes to a document and then closing the document pops-up a prompt asking you if you want to save your changes. Blocking this pop-up prevents Web Access from knowing that a document has been closed.

Resolution 1

Web Access 7.2 is no longer adversely affected by the pop-up blocker included with Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Please upgrade to the latest version of Web Access.

Resolution 2

Most pop-up blockers should include an option that allows an administrator to add a web site to a list of trusted sites where pop-ups are not blocked. Configure your pop-up blocker to allow pop-up windows to open for Web Access. The following steps document how to perform this for Internet Explorer on Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

To allow Web Access pop-ups when using Internet Explorer on Windows XP (service pack 2)

Note: The following procedure should not be necessary for Web Access 7.2 and later.

  1. Load Internet Explorer.
  2. From the Tools menu, click Internet Options to load the Internet Options dialog box.
  3. Click the Privacy tab.
  4. In the Pop-up Blocker section, click Settings.
  5. Under Address of Web site to allow, specify your Web Access URL.
  6. Click Add to add the Web Access URL to the list of Allowed sites.
  7. Click Close to save your changes.
