DCOM security needs to be configured when running the Laserfiche Server 7 on Windows 2000.

Follow these instructions to configure DCOM security.

To configure DCOM security on Windows 2000

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and then click OK to load the Distributed COM Configuration Properties dialog box.

  3. Click the Default Security tab.
    1. In the Default Access Permissions section, click Edit Default.
    2. If the resulting dialog box is not blank, make sure that each entry is set to Allow Access.
    3. Click OK to save any changes.
    4. In the Default Launch Permissions section, click Edit Default.
    5. Make sure each entry is set to Allow Launch.
    6. Click OK to save any changes.
    7. In the Default Configuration Permissions section, click Edit Default.
    8. Make sure the following entries are set to Full Control.
      • CREATOR OWNER
      • ComputerName\Administrators
      • SYSTEM
    9. Make sure the Everyone entry is set to Read.
    10. Click OK to save any changes.
  4. Click the Default Properties tab.
    1. Make sure the Enabled Distributed COM on this computer option is selected.
    2. Make sure the Default Authentication Level is set to Connect.
    3. Make sure the Default Impersonation Level is set to Identify.
  5. Click the Applications tab.
    1. Scroll down and select Laserfiche 7.
    2. Click Properties.
    3. In the General tab, set the Authentication Level to Connect.
    4. In the Security tab, select Use default access permissions, Use default launch permissions, and Use custom configuration permissions.
    5. Under Use custom configuration permissions, click Edit.
    6. Make sure Everyone is set to Special Access.
    7. Make sure System is set to Full Control.
    8. Click OK to save any changes.
    9. Click OK to save any changes.
  6. Click OK to close the Distributed COM Configuration Properties dialog box.
  7. Restart the computer.
