This article documents known issues with Laserfiche Plus 6.12.
Laserfiche Plus Known Issues
- If a Laserfiche instance of SQL Server (MSDE) has not been previously installed, users that do not have administrative privileges cannot view a published database. The installation
of
MSDE, which is mandatory for viewing a published database, requires administrative privileges for the current Windows user. (10345)
- When publishing volumes that are larger than 4 GBs, the calculated size of the volume will not appear correctly in the Publish a Laserfiche Database step. However, the volume size
calculation displayed in the Select the Volumes to be Published step is accurate. (11922)
- If the grace period has expired and Laserfiche Plus has not been registered, the Laserfiche Client\Standalone will be converted into a Viewer workstation. (7957)
- On Windows 98/ME/NT/2000, modifying the Search or Browser options several times after performing a search may cause the Laserfiche Viewer to become unresponsive. (6496)
- Published repositories on read-only media cannot be viewed from a workstation on which a newer version of Laserfiche has been installed. The workaround for this issue is to copy
the entire contents of the read-only media to a local drive. You should then remove the read-only flag from all files. Finally, modify each key under the [Database] section of the CD.INI
(on the
local drive) to reflect the new location of the database files. After modifying the CD.INI, you should be able to open the database using the Plus Viewer (on the local or network drive).
For more information about modifying the CD.INI, please refer to the Viewing a Database Published to a Temporary Directory help topic in the Plus help file. (6290)
- A published database on a CD cannot be attached to a Laserfiche Server, if the version of Laserfiche Plus that created the database is different from the version of the Laserfiche
Server. (6240)
- The name of the published database should not exceed 26 characters. If the name specified exceeds 26 characters, then Laserfiche Plus may have trouble during the publishing process.
(5855)
- When viewing a published database from a CD drive on a Windows NT 4.0 computer, you may receive an Unknown Error 8000 message. This is caused by a known bug in Windows NT 4.0. Microsoft
recommends that if this issue occurs, you should share the drive, map a drive to the CD drive, and then open the database from the mapped drive (Q248158). This issue can also be resolved
by copying the entire CD to a local or network drive. You should then modify each key under the [Database] section of the CD.INI (on the local drive) to reflect the new location of
the database files. After modifying the CD.INI, you should be able to open the database using the Plus Viewer (on the local or network drive). For more information about modifying the
CD.INI, please refer to the Viewing a Database Published to a Temporary Directory help topic in the Plus help file. (4706)
- When using Laserfiche Plus, if the current user does not have the Delete right (Feature Right), then that user will not be able to publish a database. A workaround is to give the
supervisor right to the desired user and then login as that user. Log the user out and then remove the Supervisor right from that user. The desired user will now be able to publish
repositories.
