Summary

This article lists the minimum set of Windows permissions needed to use WebLink.

The permissions described in this article should be applied on the Web Files subfolder of the WebLink installation folder. By default, the path is C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\WebLink 7\Web Files. The Windows user on which these permissions should be applied depends on the type of authentication method used to log on to a Laserfiche repository.

• If WebLink is configured to prompt users for a Laserfiche user account and password, then the following permissions must be granted on the anonymous access Windows user account specified for your WebLink 7 virtual directory.
• If WebLink is configured to use Windows Authentication, then only Windows users that have been granted the following permissions will be allowed to log on to WebLink.

The following set of Windows permissions is the minimum amount needed to log on to a Laserfiche repository and view documents.

• Read and Execute
• List Folder Contents
• Read

In addition to the minimum permissions needed to log on and view documents, the following Windows permission must also be granted if the user wants to download/generate a PDF.

• Write

The following Windows permission must also be granted in order to delete PDFs that are temporarily generated on the computer hosting Laserfiche WebLink.

• Modify

Note: Modify grants several permissions that are not strictly necessary for removing the temporarily generated PDFs. You can use the Advanced option to only grant Delete Subfolders and Files.

Note: If you are hesitant to edit the rights of a subfolder in the Program Files folder, you can manually move the Web Files subfolder to another location on the computer and modify the WebLink7 IIS virtual directory to point to the new location.
