Laserfiche Security on the Root Folder.

Summary

Certain aspects of Laserfiche security are handled differently on the root folder of a Laserfiche repository. This behavior ensures that users are not accidentally denied access to the contents of the root folder.

More Information

The ability to browse and read the root folder cannot be explicitly denied. For example, explicitly denying the Read entry access right on a folder using the This entry only scope will prevent users from seeing whether the folder contains any entries. However, performing the same operation on the root folder will not prevent users from seeing the contents of the root folder.

Assigning a security tag on a folder prevents users that have not been granted that tag from seeing that folder. However, assigning a security tag to the root folder will not prevent users from seeing the root folder. However, it will prevent them from modifying the root folder. This means that users will not be allowed to create new documents in the root folder, move entries out of the root folder, or move entries into the root folder. Note: This behavior does not affect the security settings that apply to the documents and folders residing in the root folder. For example, while a user will have the ability to see if the root folder contains entries, if that user does not have the Browse entry access right on an entry, he/she will remain unable to see the existence of that entry in the Folder Browser.
